Sikh identity under threat from Hindu right

For the past many years I have been following with concern the attempts by right wing Hindu organizations to deny the Sikhs a seperate identity outside of Hinduism. The pioneer on this front is the RSS which created the Rashtriya Sikh Sangat and is trying to portray as one of the numerous sects of Hinduism. They have incroporated Sikh guru's as Vishnu's incarnations and included them in the larger Hindu pantheon with the long term assumption that these efforts will gradually help in mitigating a seperate Sikh identity as distinct from Hinduism. The new nomenclature for Sikhs is 'Kesh Dhari Hindus' or Hindus who keep hair. While the larger Sikh community appears to be uncerned by these attempts; the consequences of this apathy will be profound for the Sikh Nation.
